It’s Dallas week here in Washington, and the number one thing on every fan or player’s mind is to come out of this with a win. For many people, there is also another matchup involved within this game, and that’s fantasy football. The Redskins have a good matchup this week, which lines them up to have multiple fantasy relevant players. Here is everyone to consider in fantasy football from the Redskins this week:
Kirk Cousins
Kirk Cousins had a rough start to the season with only 9.96 fantasy points in the season opener. But a closer look reveals that it wasn’t that bad. Cousins failed to throw a touchdown pass for the first time since he took over as the starting quarterback. Last season, he had at least one touchdown pass in every game, including five games with at least three touchdown passes. He also had two passes intercepted in Week 1, after only being picked off 11 times in 2015.
He looks to get back on track this weekend against a Dallas defense in which he socred 13.36 and 19.04 fantasy points, respectively, in their two matchups last year. This week he’s up against a depleted Dallas front seven that gave up 18.28 fantasy points to Eli Manning this past Sunday.
Cousins is in play and should be started in any season leagues with 12 or more teams.
At $7,000 on DraftKings, he is a solid play in tournaments. He will likely have low ownership with quarterbacks like Carson Palmer and Matt Ryan priced just under him, and both having better matchups.
The same goes for FanDuel. Cousins is an affordable $7,800 there and is an easy fit into tournament lineups. At the same price, Matt Stafford is a safer option for cash games.
DeSean Jackson
DeSean Jackson had a solid start with 10.20 fantasy points last week, and that total most likely would have been at least 10 points higher if not for a defensive pass interference in the fourth quarter that stole a touchdown from him.
Jackson will remain a weekly starter in seasonal leagues for as long as he stays healthy this year.
In daily contests, his deep ball ability keeps him in constant consideration as a tournament play. For this week, he’s also worth a look in cash games due to his low price. He’s the clear top receiver for the Redskins, and he’s priced more like a wide receiver two on both FanDuel and Draftkings.
Jamison Crowder
Jamison Crowder isn’t in play in seasonal leagues due to being at best the third option in the passing attack, behind Jackson and Jordan Reed. However, his low price on both FanDuel and Draftkings makes him a viable option in daily tournaments. His volume is there – he had 10 targets last week – and a touchdown would have put him in double digit fantasy points.
According to Pro Foootball Focus, he ran 87% of his routes from the slot in Week 1. Orlando Scandrick defended the slot 95% of the time for the Cowboys last week, and gave up 0.57 fantasy points per route.
Jordan Reed
Jordan Reed remains the best fantasy option in Washington. His 6.40 fantasy points in Week 1 was disappointment, as he only scored less than that in three games last season. He had eight or more targets in nine games last season, which gives him a solid floor, and his best fantasy score of the season was 24.90 points.
There’s no question that Reed should be started every single week in seasonal leagues. In daily contests, there are better options than Reed this week. His high price makes him hard to fit in lineups, and Dallas only allowed double digit fantasy points to an opposing tight end once last year.
Redskins D/ST:
The Redskins defense is in play in all formats this week. They had a disappointing performance to open the season, but have a great chance to rebound against this Dallas offense. Against the cowboys last season, the Washington defense scored eight and 12 fantasy points, respectively in their two matchups.
Dallas is also starting a quarterback in his second NFL game and first game on the road. The Redskins defense is severely underpriced on both FanDuel and Draftkings, and are only owned in 7% of yahoo seasonal leagues.
