Whether you did or did not make the playoffs of your season-long fantasy football league this year, it’s still business usual in daily fantasy football.
The Washington Redskins have a big divisional matchup this week against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Redskins won the first matchup of this rivalry by a score of 27-20 back in Week 6. Washington is rightly favored by 2.5 points this time, with an implied total of 24.5 points.
That puts the Redskins firmly in play as a team to target in fantasy football. Now let’s narrow it down to which of the Redskins players should be in your daily fantasy lineups in Week 14.
Kirk Cousins
FanDuel Price: $7,600
DraftKings Price: $6,300
Cousins is coming off of seven straight games with multiple touchdowns, and has been held under 260 passing yards just one time all season.
Meanwhile, the Eagles have given up at least 22 fantasy points per game to five of the past six quarterbacks they have faced, allowing two or more touchdowns to all six of them.
Somehow has led to little change in Cousins Price, leaving him very affordable on both major daily fantasy sites in Week 14. His price actually decreased by $100 from last week on Draftkings. And despite an increase of $100 on FanDuel, he is the 16th most expensive quarterback this week. That puts him firmly in play in all formats, and he is one of my top plays of the week at his position.
Rob Kelley
FanDuel Price: $6,000
DraftKings Price: $4,200
Kelley has struggled over the past two games with just 100 total rushing yards in that span. That is partially due to his touches being down, and Jay Gruden has already said he wants to get Kelley the ball more moving forward. He rushed for at least 87 yards in each game when he had more than 20 touches this season.
On the other side of the ball, the Eagles have been stout against the run, giving up more than 70 rushing yards to just four running backs this season. They have also given up only four rushing touchdowns to opposing running backs. Interestingly enough, one of those running backs is Matt Jones who rushed for more yards (135) against the Eagles than any other running back has this season.
We can’t expect those same numbers from Kelley, but his price tag suggests that DraftKings and FanDuel have quickly forgotten that he rushed for 137 yards and three touchdowns just three weeks ago. On DraftKings he is priced below a myriad of running backs, including Fitzgerald Toussaint, who has touched the ball a total of 10 times all season. FanDuel didn’t do much better, pricing him as the 24th most expensive running back this week.
Kelley’s price is ridiculous on both sites, making him a great value play in any format this week.
DeSean Jackson
FanDuel Price: $5,800
DraftKings Price: $5,200
Philadelphia has given up the fifth most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season, and doesn’t have a cornerback or safety ranked inside the top 32 players at their position according to Pro Football Focus. That warrants taking a long look at all of Washington’s receivers this week.
Jackson has lined up on the right side 43% of the time this season, which will put him up against Leodis McKelvin, who is allowing an astounding 0.50 fantasy points per route. According to Scott Barrett’s DFB Matrix, 45% of the fantasy points that the Eagles have allowed to opposing wide receivers this season also happened to come from the right side. They have given up 16.8 PPR fantasy points per game to opposing receivers on the right side, which is more than any other team.
Jackson has caught more than four passes just three times this season, which makes him a hard cash game play, especially on a PPR site like DraftKings. However, his excellent matchup, and big play potential, make him one of the best tournament plays of the week on both sites.
Pierre Garcon
FanDuel Price: $5,400
DraftKings Price: $4,200
Garcon has caught six passes for 60 or more yards in five of his past seven games. However, with just one game over 100 receiving yards, he doesn’t have the same ceiling or big-play potential as Jackson.
What he does have is an excellent matchup against Nolan Carroll, who Pro Football Focus grades 104th of 123 eligible cornerbacks. That’s good enough of a matchup in itself, but Garcon will also see time across from McKelvin, giving him a chance to load up fantasy points from the right side.
With so much opportunity for all of the Redskins pass catchers this week, it will be tough to nail down who is going to have the big day. For that reason, I am going to stay away from Garcon in cash games. I also give Jackson the edge in tournaments, but they are certainly both in play, especially for anyone making multiple lineups.
Jamison Crowder
FanDuel Price: $6,400
DraftKings Price: $5,600
Crowder has been targeted eight or more times in four of his past six games, and has gone over 80 yards four times in that span.
Unfortunately, this week, he does get the worst matchup of any receiver on this team. He will spend most of his day against Malcolm Jenkins in the slot, where only two teams have allowed less PPR fantasy points per game to receivers than the Eagles this year.
For that reason, I don’t feel confident in playing him on cash games on FanDuel. However, due to his low price and high volume, he remains in consideration in all formats on DraftKings.
Jordan Reed
FanDuel Price: $7,500
DraftKings Price: $5,900
If you’re thinking about playing Reed, you will need to monitor his status all the way up until game day. He is currently questionable to play, but it looks like he is in.
The Eagles are allowing the second fewest fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends of any team, so typically a tight end would not be a good way to target them in fantasy football. Because of that, Vernon Davis is not in play, regardless of Reed’s status.
Reed on the other hand, is a special case. He has one of the highest ceilings among tight ends, and does not need an easy matchup in order to be successful.
The injury concerns take him out of cash-game consideration, but make him an intriguing tournament play on both sites, due to other players shying away form him.
Dustin Hopkins
FanDuel Price: $4,800
DraftKings Price: N/A
Hopkins is averaging 10.25 FanDuel points per game and put up 11 points in the first matchup with the Eagles this season.
Meanwhile, the Eagles have given up eight or more points to opposing kickers in four straight games, and six of their past eight.
Hopkins is the fifth most expensive kicker on FanDuel, but that puts him just $300 above the minimum price at his position. Considering he is averaging more points per than all but one kicker on this slate, and has a plus-matchup, he is a strong play in all formats.
